s550 Radio Volume Fading In and Out?

Anyone had a situation where the volume on the radio/cd/etc fades in and out (low, not completely out) intermittently?

My s550 has started this, but its not frequent enough that I could take it to the dealer and expect it to be repeated for them. Wondered if anyone had this and perhaps has a solution I can point 'em toward.

Thanks!!!

Could be the Nav giving directions with its volume turned down - it fades down the music when it does this.

Also, if the source is an iPhone (as opposed to the radio, as you said) the volume will fade when the phone gives an alert, for an email, text message etc. Sometimes you can't har te alert and it only sounds like a music fade.

It occurs without the navigation engaged and on radio...not sure on cd/dvd/mp3 etc. as I use them very infrequently. No ipod installed.

E55 then E63, now back to an E55
Never heard of this on the S-classes,
however I understand it is a common problem on VW Passats (girlfriend has one) - and the dealer replaced the entire head unit....
I'm sure that doesn't help you much, but the Comand may need to be switched.

Perhaps the microphone wiring for the mic that controls speed sensitive volume tuning? Perhaps the mic could be unplugged for testing.

Radio Issue Solved !!!

The dealer solved the fading in and out issue today...turned out to be a loose ground wire on the antenna " booster/amplifier " (?) I had noticed the radio was also more susceptible to overhead wires and traffic light relays as well...

I cannot see how that should affect CDs (as from the original post). But very good anyway if the issue got solved, must have been difficult to diagnose.
