Charging consumer battery on 2007 S550
I just picked up a 2007 S last week. I just discovered it has a consumer battery in the trunk. I've had a 2003 SL55 for 7 years and I have learned (the hard way) that it's a good idea to trickle charge the consumer when you're away for a couple of weeks. I rigged up a charging plug on the SL55.
It's my understanding that on the S550 that the consumer can be charged from the front by removing a plastic cover on the passenger side in the engine department that exposes a tall brass pin. This pin is the positive and the ground can be anything (such as the ground on the starter battery).
Is this information correct? See attached picture.

The SL should survive two weeks parked easily, if it does not, it must have an issue.

Charging my rear consumer battery on my 2007 S550
This was helpful in charging my 2007 S550 rear battery. I had left it for 4 months and need to charge it. Where is the photo is the ground post you mentioned? I'm using a body bolt to ground. Thanks
