The best or nothing
Question Brakes worn at 30.000Km - is it normal?

I realized my brakes started squeaking which we discussed in another thread but they seem to be quite worn. Is it normal after 30.000Km? Please advise. Shall I replace them with S600 brakes? Then I guess I have to buy at least 18" wheels, right?

30,000 KM is almost 19,000 Miles, which seems low for a Pad change but is not out of the realm of possibility depending on the terrain and how you drive your car. Many people have posted in this forum about needing to replace the S550 brakes at under 25K miles (me included).

I think you won't be able to fit anything smaller than 18" wheels. The Euro Spec S600 rotors are 360 mm (14.1 inches, toss another 2-3 inches of clearance for the 6 piston calipers and I think 18" are probably your best bet. It's kind of pointless to have such powerful (S600) brakes and then run large side walls (what tires are you currently running?)

Depending on your style of driving normal/to bit aggresive, I'd say it's quite expected mileage (km-age).
Switching to 600 brakes...unnecessary in my opinion. Do you think MB would sacrifice brake stopping power ratio? (based on acceleration/tq/mass/material).
So save your money, switch them from left to the right pocket, stick to the original brakes
...and invite me and my wife to dinner next time we are in Europe

just kidding.
