Is this a good price?

The asking price for a CPO 2007 S550 4matic is $50,000. This car has the following options:
Premium II package
Drive dynamic multicontour seats
Heated steering
Electronic trunk closer.
NO AMG but has 5 spoke wheels

This car has 39K miles. I enquired about extended warranty and he said it is $ 3425 for 2 additional years or $2045 for 1 year and apparently I can purchase ths only when I buy the car- is this true?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Price is onthe high side. Warranty is high as well, I paid $3100 for warranty ($100 deductible) 3 years $85,000 mile on my 07 S65AMG.

I am in West Chester, PA and the car is in VA. No, it doesn't have distronic plus. The dealer sent me an email last night saying that he is only making $2K on this car, but can drop the price another $800 to $49,200. The other idea he floated was to purchase the car as a non-certified for $47,900 ($1300 less), and purchase an after-market warranty, but said they are not as good as MB's.
I was looking for an AMG but I can't seem to find for less than $55K (some with high miles), and the dealers are not willing to negotiate on those cars.
I could easily drive to NY/NJ if there's a better deal, so any help is greatly appreciated.
I am not in a hurry and can wait if need be. Thanks for your comments.

Haris3344:is that an MB warranty? Thanks

Hi all,
I spoke to the manager on the 2007S550 4matic yesterday and the latest price is $48,800 plus $3425 for warranty, so the total is $52,211. We have 6% tax in PA, so it is $55,876 out the door. He mentioned that extended warranty prices on CPO's are set by MB so there's not much he can do.

Do you guys still feel it's expensive?
Thanks and as always, appreciate your input.

I got a 08 4matic with P2 w/36K miles for that. Take your time, I believe you can find a better deal.

Not a cpo car. Will purchase an extended warranty from AAA before I hit 50K miles. I believe they quoted me $2700 for 3years/100k. In all fairness, I have spent about $1k on the blue tooth add on, new floor mats-door sills and a high end detail job to get the paint back right. This was a lease car and it needed a little TLC. Next will be tires so I will have spent around $2500 to get the car up to my standards. Still, a good deal in my mind. By the way, it took me almost 6 months to find what I consider a deal.

2014 E350 4matic sedan
I just purchased my CPO 2007 S550 4matic pkg 2, parktonic, rear seats pkg, AMG pkg, with 28k miles for $53k. I also brought 2 years MB extended warranty plus wheels and tire protection for $3400. I didn,t beat them up, but I am pretty happy with the deal. The car is in show room condition and the dealer also throw in a few accessories to sweeten the deal.

Bujji, I'm also looking for '07 S550 CPO. Why do you need to pay extra for warranty? I thought all MB CPO come with left over original 4 yr warranty + 1 yr CPO warranty.

NuMB, with the original 1 yr CPO coverage + 2 yr MB extended warranty, you actually have a total of 3 yr warranty after the original 4 yr expires, correct? I've read quite a few threads on CPO warranty, and I'm getting so very confused. thanks.

NUBS500ER- that seems like a great deal because I can't find an AMG 4matic for that price. Enjoy!!

ML_Captain- The car comes with 6 months of warranty left from original date of purchase. Since it's CPO, it comes with an additional year of warranty-total of 1.6 yrs. However, you can purchase an additional year warranty ($~2100) to extend the warranty to 2.6 years or 2 year warranty ($3000) to extend the warranty to 3.6 years. So, you will have peace of mind for 3.6 years or 100,000 miles which ever comes first.
Hope this clarifies.

I think that is actually reasonable. Prices on the S550's are going back up and the availability is going down. My guys have been to the auctions for the last three weeks and pricing is going out of black book for clean cars. IMO, if you can get a CPO S550 for under $50k you're doing pretty good.

Thanks Blk04Cobra1. In and around Philadelphia, the prices for 2007 CPOs are around $55K (non AMG), so you may be correct.
There still are some good deals on non 4-matics.
I am seriously debating about getting this car.
Thanks for all the comments.

Sorry for the late reply, I brought my car in Massachusetts. Te car have 1 more year left on the original warranty, CPO give me another year after than and I brought 2 more years that give me 4 years of peace of mind. I heard a lot of horror stories about after market extended warranty. I just don't want to deal with that.

The price they quoted you on this car is reasonable. I highly recommend you get it CPO with warranty since nothing is inexpensive to repair on these cars.

Good luck!

CPO warranty is a must. Despite what the dealer tells you, the price is negotiable. I have done it more than once. You should be able to save 3 or 4 hundred on it.

Good Luck!

Bujji, thank you for the reply. That makes sense. For $3k extra, I'd get it. We had a Volvo years ago and paid about $3.5k for extended warranty. About 6 months after the original warranty expired, the cooling had a leak and somehow contaminated the transmission. It took the dealer 1 month to get all fixed. The cost could have been over $6k without ext. warranty!

NuMB, good choice getting extra warranty. I'd have done the same. MB doesn't break as often as it used to, but, still, if it breaks, it will be very expensive to fix.
