Any main dealer servicing involves:

a pointless video no one watches
inform you it needs a list of work they wouldn't bother to do on the garage's managing directors own car
ensure a 5 year old tries to light up the tyres, but they'll just damages the gearbox trying
scrape one alloy wheel and scratch one body panel (its mandatory)
put the wrong quality of the wrong oil in the wrong place
if lucky they ensure your correct tyre pressure are now incorrect and imbalanced
depending on the labour charge >200 US$ an hour they will wash the dirt off
thrash the living daylights out of a cold engine

what they won't do:

put a skilled person on the car
check and apply any software updates it needs
record correctly the work undertaken in either the service book or the online vehicle records
apply any safety related recalls or service actions that are outstanding
believe a single word the person dropping of the car bothers to mention
bother to read any customer concerns or faults

they will:

give you as bill that's twice the value of the work they badly undertook
give it back worse than when it went in

Independent garages will:

these days do much the same but without a video
