Rear Camera on 2007 S550

I would like a rear camera on my 07 550. I've read in these forums that Mid City Engineering offers a good kit for this. I'm looking for any recent experience with a project like this along with any camera recommendations.

Cost, part numbers and any other details/advice appreciated.

The 2007 is supposed to use an expensive rear view camera control unit that draws dynamic lines but it might be possible to code the car for the later implementation where Comand draws fixed lines (Comand has this option after a telematics update that most 2007 cars these days already have) and an "ordinary" camera.

I have been done this for my 2007 S350 3 years ago, the following is a parts list for that retrofitting work. you may need the same.

Rear camrea retrofit package: B6 782 2001 X1
Camrea control moudle frame: A221 545 4840 X1
Nut: N910112 006003 X2
Camera install paneling in rear trunk A 221 758 03 08 X1
Bolt: N000000 004310 X1

I don't know if you need buy wiring harness, as i know most of 2007 S-class has been installed with camera wiring harness in factory whatever it equipped rear camera or not.
After hardware installed, you should do online SCN coding to add SA code 218 into vehicle, then you must do demarcate boundary for dynamic lines to activate rear camera.
BTW i think that won't be a DIY job, hope these information will be helpful.

I have done... quite a few, Alpine camera in factory location and turn the camera input on via the sds developer mode software.

both mid city and navtv have camera options for this vehicle and both work well which will require no trip to the dealer for programming eiher

Is this without the static lines or do you also code the 2007 car to look like a later model where Comand draws static lines? How does parking assist work in this case?
