Are you an attorney skrontz?
Germany with higher speed limits and no speed limits on some portions of the autobahn has 38% less traffic death rate compared to the US. So speed does not kill, I am all against a maniac doing 100 MPH on a crowded road which will endanger others and himself. I think one has to exercise proper judgement with speed AND so should the law enforcement community.
There is a huge difference between revenue collection AND public safety, and I am not an attorney.

I do agree that the posted limits on some roads here are ridiculously low. However, the fact that our cars can go much faster than the limit should not be the only argument for raising them.

Going a bit off the topic, you have much higher chances of winning such cases when doing Trial By Written Declaration (CA V.C., sect 40902). First of all, you can lay out your evidence without being interrupted. Second, cops rarely remember the details and/or bother to submit their evidence in writing.

You might have a point. I will try it next time via written declaration.
Thankfully, California allows for traffic school every 18 months, so the violation does not show up on your record. Not sure about other State laws.

Mike Valentine was a co-founder at Escort (Cincinnati OH) till he went his own separate way and started Valentine. The V1 is an OK unit but the directional warning he emphasizes so much is of little value. Who cares where the cop is, ahead, behind, left or right, even above or below, if a signal is present people slow down till the warning dissipates. So give us a feature that is of value V1.
I have read numerous comparison test results of various detectors by independent testers, seems like each test declares a different winner and not one make/model is consistently wins these tests.

MBWorld Fanatic!
Just got a V1 in August, so far it's done a great job but I do agree that you need to be aware of your surroundings and keep a good eye out for unmarked cars. Wish the speeds were higher here in the US, 55 stay alive is like 35 in these Autobahn bred Mercs.
85 would be a great normal speed on highways.
