Smile 4matic?

I live in the midwest and we get occasional snow....more often ice. Trying to decide whether or not to order new S550 with 4matic or not. Have no idea if it affects the ride. Opinions anyone? I'm looking for a smooth luxury ride, and if the 4matic makes it less responsive, or desirable, I'm not getting it. If it doesn't make any difference then I'll probably get it.

4matic is the way to go in the snow. If you don't have 4matic,you will go nowhere in the snow. My clk in the snow would not move,it felt like the car was on jack stands. Snow tire would solve the problem tho.I later bought dunlop snow tires, and it made a BIG differance.

S550 4matic, ML350
I have an 07 S550 4matic and the ride is awesome. No difference in 4matic (maybe even a bit quicker for the first second with all 4 wheels powered??? Maybe just my imagination.... I have had many AWD (Audis and Mercedes) and a few 2WD Mercedes and Volvo, and I always thought they were crisper real world with all corners powered. Sure, on a track with perfect conditions and racing rubber, the 2WD will outperform... but I cant help but think the AWD on less then perfect roads will show better performance then 2WD. Just my 2C...

+1 for 4Matic. In Ohio, we get snow and some ice. My 10 S550 is my daily driver and has to be bullet proof all the time.

If I want a more responsive drive, that's what my M5 is for!

Was your CLK on summer or all season tires before switching to snow tires?

i have had a number of rear wheel sedans (7 series BMW) and when it snowed i didnt want to drive it,always took the suv. Then i got a new S55O 4Matic 2 years ago.Put on custom wheel and tire combo for the good weather months and got Blizzak winter tires for the original AMG wheels to run thru the winter. I dont see how it could get any better,i think i could drive it up a wall....an ice and snow covered wall.Get the 4Matic..........
