In the USA you drive your S Class to find a party. In Soviet Russia the Party uses an S Class to find you.

That is probably the most accurate description. I believe the US S-class is more often a Guard model too.

Technically Russian MBs must follow "ROW" specs (European) which makes a few things different.

Assuming that the comparison is between an engine model that is available for both markets, the difference should be a big list of small details. There was a thread about this when the 221 was a new model, I certainly cannot remember all.

Examples are:
- speed limiter missing from the US models CC stalk
- early US models did not have child locks at rear doors if I remember right,
- I assume lights are still different on US models
- Comand is a different part number, build to accept US or Euro maps, weather band not present in Europe, no Tele-Aid, TV option missing from US cars, Sat radio not available for Euro cars etc.
- tyre pressure sensors working at a different frequency, keys should be the same with early 221 (face lift is likely using same sensors)
- transmission program C/S/M on Euro models (even with small engines)
- licence plate frame must be different
- cluster coded for miles and MPH, HVAC for Fahrenheit in the US etc.

Standard equipment are very country specific in Europe.

What sort of differences were you after?
