ESP inoperative - See Oper Manual
I have had this message appear about once every 8 months. It goes away the next time I start the engine.
Any idea what causes it. It happened again today. It is gone after an engine restart and I don't expect to see it again for several months.

The upper arm can't wear out. The bushing has failed and needs to be replaced. Start there.

im getting this message after replacing my steering rack and pinion. a local shop did the work and now the steering wheel is not straight. He told me I will need to replace the tie rods and will need and alignment, apparently he cant get his hands on the tie rods until Monday. So my question is, is the esp inoperative a result of the steering wheel being off? will an alignment fix this or will I need to replace the steering module?
