2009 Mercedes-Benz S500, 2008 Mercedes-Benz ML500
AMG sport package...
Does AMG actually design the AMG package for regular mercs or does MB design it and just says it's from AMG? If AMG does design it, I'm guessing they(AMG) earn money from it...

While AMG is part of MB, the AMG design team designs the AMG sport package for all MBs. Of course this goes through an approval process within MB but there are separate designers for AMG who develop the AMG parts of the MB. This ranges from wheels and body kits to the parts which make a true AMG (55 or 63) different from a regular 350/550 etc.

Since MY2010, there is no more "AMG" Sport Package -- just "Sport Package." I very much doubt AMG gets involved into the design of the generic "sport" appearance elements.
