08 S450 with AMG
Trading up from 01S430. What to buy 07 or 08?
Hi everyone,
Im currently in a 2001 S430. This car has been relatively good for me with some issues along the way, but overall I was pleased.
I needed advice on which model year I should purchase. I am looking at a 2007 S550 or a 2008 S450.
What would you recommend, and would you recommend getting something that has over 100,000kms (63,000miles).
Also does the 07 or 08 model year have any serious or known issues? The older W220 had many issues with air-matic, instrument cluster etc etc etc.
I just want to get a feeling from current owners which route I should take.
Any input/advice will be greatly appreaciated.
Thx in advance,
Shakir

96 and 08 911 turbos
this depends entirely.
I'd get an 07 with lower miles and the 5.5 over an 08 with higher miles or a smaller engine.
But that depends on what YOU value more.
The cars are relatively trouble free, but I'd still recommend an extended warranty

check the engine serial number!
If you go with 2007, I would recommend to skip the one with engine serial number i*BEFORE* 2739..30 088611 (for engine 273 )
otherwise it has the risk of very expensive balance shaft repair.
