Question AMG Sport Package Add-on, or s63/s65 Facelift?

Need some opinions…. I’ve been reading the threads in this forum, & researching the various parts needed & can’t seem to make up my mind.

My questions are:

1. Is it REALLY cost affective to add the aesthetic AMG Sports Package to an s550, post production/sale, vs. just purchasing the same year/mileage WITH the package already installed?

2. What would be the “better” choice for a facelift, AMG Sport Package or s63/65 facelift.

3. What’s more valuable when it come to resale, an s550 with a true AMG sports package, or an s550 that LOOKS like an s63/s65? (no offense to those who’ve done the facelift)

My complete OEM total for AMG Sport add-on - $5,005
My complete OEM total for s63/s65 facelift add-on - $5,900

OEM AMG 20’s in decent shape - $3,000

Grand Totals: $8,005 for AMG sport look, $8,900 for s63/65 look

I can only speak about the resale situation, and in that case, almost without exception, it seems cars with 'legitimate' options / packages are worth more money. This would be a safe average assumption. There will always be outliers, for instance, you just might find someone who really wants the S63 or S65 look on an S550.
Good luck, seems like a lot of dough.

What pisses me off is, It cost $6,650, to add the "Sports Package Plus One" at time of order, (which includes nice new shinny 20's), yet it's more than double to add it after.. It's taken me 2 weeks of haggling with MB parts & service, to get the prices noted above..., & they make it seem like it's a HUGE deal I'm getting... Pure BS if you ask me..

S550
You'll find that in many cases, the "non-stock" add-ons take a hit on re-sale. I'd say an S550 with OEM AMG package added later will actually get a higher price than that of a S63/S65 add-on, only because people will then treat the S65 upgrades as owner-modded and expect a discount, even though most of us think that an S65 look is more desirable. Chalk it up to conservative S-class buyers, they do not have the same mindset as Honda Civic buyers, for instance.

The cheapest cars I see advertised have Brabus, Lorinser, Renntech, and various mods like extra chrome, trunk wings and body vents, even though those kits cost a lot to buy and install. I guess the assumption is also that those cars were driven hard.
