my hopefully soon to be 2011 s550
Im debating on a 2011 black s550 with design porcelain interior with black alacantra headliner. The car has p2, split screen, power rear seats, back up camera, disctronic plus parktronik, and panorama sunroof. I will also most likely add a set of 22" vossen vvs 082's. Pictures will be posted if i go with this.

I sense some deeply hurt feelings there, but it doesn't change the fact that it is not "AMG" and is useless even visually. Not sure what traumatic experience you had suffered in Arizona, but I have never been there, sorry.

I agree with M5 ... I, myself, like the amg sport (appearance) package, and would never consider an S550 without one.... but as they say, there's an *** for every seat, right?

- Larger rims (to each their own)
- Different DRL style (better than the non-sport version)
- Different mesh style on the air dam (somewhat better than non-sport)
- Exposed exhaust pipes (much better than non-sport)
- Criss-crossed side skirt (ugly, in my opinion)
- Different front bumper design (to each their own, but reminds me of Toyota Yaris too much)
Now, in MY2010 you already get the LED DRLs, nice front air dam mesh, and exposed exhaust pipes with the non-sport package. You also get the nice chrome trim that goes along the sides and extends to the front and rear bumpers; with the Sport package, you lose the trim from the bumpers which visually breaks the line (try comparing two cars from the side and you will notice that the side trim on the Sport version looks misplaced). So, you effectively get just the bigger rims (if you plan on upgrading them like the OP anyway, that point is moot) and the side skirts that are questionable.
In other words, you don't get nearly as much benefit with the Sport package on a MY2010+ W221 as before; in fact, one could argue that the car looks better without it (my wife who is a professional designer holds that opinion, too).
I firmly believe that age has nothing to do with the sense of style and/or ability to reason; hey, I'm 29 myself ;-)

Perhaps I can present my line of reasoning to illustrate what I mean. So, prior to MY2010 you were getting the following in the Sport package:
- Larger rims (to each their own)
- Different DRL style (better than the non-sport version)
- Different mesh style on the air dam (somewhat better than non-sport)
- Exposed exhaust pipes (much better than non-sport)
- Criss-crossed side skirt (ugly, in my opinion)
