More than likely doable in STAR... but I doubt a dealer would be willing to assist in doing it.

I've read on another thread here that you can tell the dealer your instrument cluster "freezes" from time to time and that the dealer will (or should) then do a IC software update. Supposedly that update solves the seat belt ringing nuisance issue. I've been meaning to get this done for a few months now but haven't had a chance to yet...planning on trying it towards the end of the week. I'll let you guys know if it works or not.

Solve? Is it broken? As far as I'm aware the seat belt chime is a safety feature. I doubt an IC software update will remove it.

No it would not, at least if the SW update is done properly. In an odd case settings might change if the cluster is not SCN coded after the SW update (or manually coded for correct settings).

I'm sorry I mixed up my warning messages/chimes. The one I was referring to is the "don't forget your key" message and accompanying chime whenever the drivers door is open. For some reason I thought that's what the OP was asking about since the seatbelt chime is a safety feature and not a nuisance as you pointed out.

Reclining S550? The seatbelt must interfere with the gangsta lean. It's okay, one crash and game over.

Yes the "gangsta lean" because everybody that wants to turn the seatbelt sound off wants to "gangsta lean"

I saw something on EBay may be what you want. It is a fiber carbon clip like the one you have on the seat belt. You just stick it in the locking mechanism and made the car think you have the belt on.

Well since you are thinking about an inexpensive solution let me help you out then: just pass the seatbelt behind your seat and insert it........ And NO i will not send flowers !!!!!
