help with reset malfunction?

My dad has a 2007 s550 and he was messing with the steering wheel. He took it apart and disconnected the airbag and such. After he put it back together, a message pops up on the screen. "front left malfunction" visit workshop. Is there anyway to reset this? I have tried going through the assyst workshop menu and tried resetting it to no avail. Any help is appreciated. Thank you

Are you sure there is nothing more in the error message, additional text or an icon?

According to the manual, there are fault messages like "Marker lamp, front left" but no "Front Left Malfunction" message.
