Change speedo/odometer from miles to kilometres??

Hi

I'm considering importing a 2007 S63, 2007 S65 or 2010+ S600 (all W221) from the UK to Australia. Unfortunately I won't be able to register the car unless the speedo's main dial reads in km/h instead of mph; and customs have said I might not get an import permit either.

Is there any way for a UK dealer/workshop or Mercedes-Benz Germany to change this?

Thanks!

(If so; are there any step-by-step or pictures what the screens should look like?)

I know that with 2010+ you can do it your self from the speedo's settings

I know that Canadians wanting to bring cars from the US to Canada have the same problem. I seem to recall that they can have those changes done fairly easily.Don't know how much it costs but it is possible...at least in the US/Canada.Perhaps someone who's done it will chime in on this thread with details. As a matter of fact if you search this site for something like "importing a US car into Canada" you just might come up with something useful.

I imported my car from the US, dealer changed it in 2 minutes on a GL just another light came up started saying km/h the only bad thing it only goes up to 160, but on the S-class digital should not be a problem.

It's too bad that the previous series of S classes had a button you pushed and while driving the speedo needle would jump to a higher number when switching from mph to kph. Now it's just a small digital readout in the corner of the speedo.
Another alternative is to buy an S class in Canada -- for the right price.

Having read many stories about Canadians importing US cars into Canada I know that their government requires substantial changes to the car before approval is granted...including,IIRC,changing the actual speedometer display itself (not cheap). If Australia has similar requirements then,IMO,Candians who have done it are best qualified to answer thye OP's question. If that's not required then it could mean a few simple adjustments being made.
