Tire size and ESP??

I'm looking at some tires for my s65 but want to go wider than the factory 275s. I'm looking at the Michelin pilot super sports in the 295s. The diameter difference in the two tires is .50 of an inch, or 15 revolutions per mile....the super sports being the shorter tire. My tech is telling me that I can't run them because of the electronics on the ESP/traction control/etc.....he says it will make the car throw codes, etc and that I have to use the factory tire? I know for a fact I went from a 275 to a 285 on my 220 s65 with no problems. The difference in those two tires was .30 of an inch.

Anyone have any real world experience with this? Any issues? Thanks in advance for any feedback.
