07 S550 Passenger side mirror

Had the car since July & just noticed that the passenger side mirror does not dim at night like the driver's side. I can see that the driver's side has the ring around the mirror for the auto dim but passenger side does not. Is this normal? Thanks.

This is normal, only the interior mirror and the driver's side mirror have the auto dim feature.

Thank you for the quick reply

For the S class the passenger side should also have the auto dim feature, just my 2 cents!!!

You might find the UK models have the right side auto dimming mirror.
Auti dimming mirrors are much more expensive than just the heated flat mirrors, maybe $300 or more.

I replaced the left side mirror on my US spec ML and S vehicles with ones from Europe which have the aspherical curvature on the outer 1.5 inches showing you what would be in your blind spot. It has been very useful a few times. These mirrors have a dotted line about 1.5 inches from the outer edge.

I have seen Saabs in the US with this feature, but I haven't noticed any other brands using it. I believe in Europe and the UK it is common.

get your vin number and ask your dealer for the original equipment included in your package (car) you'll know if indeed the right side (passenger side) do have a dim side view mirror.
