Socal: Telematic and Map data updates

Finally after some searching, I got the Telematics update done on my 2007 S550. That by itself enabled the DVD video playback and also give the new 3D map view.

Together with the DVD map update to the latest, the traffic information will be enabled as well and also show the traffic information directly on major roads / highway.

Fantastic updates imho, I can't be happier. I know a lot of people have trouble getting their dealerships to perform the telematic update, they either don't want to do it or don't even know about such update (and confuse with just map update).

In any case, I got a Socal contact already where my service adviser can help perform the update. I don't want to just post up the contact information, so if you are interested, please pm me and I will give you the details. Just in case, I am not affiliated with him or any dealerships at all.

I will be out of town for a while but I will try to check my pm as often as possible

Any recommendations for update?

Hello, I just got an 07 s550 and also wanted to update the telematics system. Can you please provide me with any contact info or dealer so I can do the update? I went to a few dealers locally and it seems they have no Idea what I was talking about. Also I was wondering if you got the iPod connector included with the update and the cost of the update. Any info will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I'm not trying to scare anyone or bad mouth MB, but I too had my telematics updated on my 2007 S65. The update along with the V11 maps was great.

But then I discovered my A/C no longer worked. It would blow, but not get cold.

A trip back to the dealer and they checked it out on the computer and input the proper codes. Now I have my cold air back.

If you have your telematics updated make sure before you leave your A/C still works.

That is exactly what happened Friday afternoon. Got the update which was great but get into the car which they drove up and had the AC on LO and it was just blowing hot air. Figured it would get cool soon but nada. Called the SA & will have to bring it in Monday. So will not be using the car over the week end.

Went to HOI, worked with your contact. I guess it depends on the tech who is pushing the buttons. Lesson learned never drop car off at dealer on Friday of a holiday week. Lol

Two possible MY07 malfunctions associated with Telematics update are well documented here on the forum furthermore, Techs should know by now – AC & rear view back-up camera.

I just had my 2007 S550 telematic updated, the dealer changed me $125. They call it software update. They also try to get me to update the map for $500. I declined and told them I installed V11 already, and the DVD only cost approx. $250. But the SA told me I don't have the latest map. For the longest time they act like they don't know what I am talking about until I spoke with another SA and offer to pay. Typical of dealership.

Happy to report that the AC works again. Brought the car back this morning to Charlie @ HoI of BP and he took care of the issue within 1 hour. He said to sit tight & had the tech work on it immediately.

Thank you to Henry for the assist & props to Charlie for providing good customer service.

For the telematics update does that include removing the annoying "please remove key" chime? or is that something separate?
