Replace the dome light bulbs for W221

I've searched but have been unable to find this information. I did find this pic on EBAY but I can't believe you have to remove all this to get at the bulbs.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/OEM-MERCEDES...sories&vxp=mtr

Please help!!

135 views and no body knows how to replace the dome lights.

I still have no light, but at least I don't feel as bad. I thought I was the only one that could not figure how how to get those buggers out.

If you know how it's done please share.

it's not hard, just use a plastic wedge and jam it on the perimeter of the ceiling lighting assy. one side at a time, pull and pop it out then unplug the socket within the rest is just a stroll in the park. Good luck and enjoy your new LED lights.

Cool lagoon thanks for taking the time to respond. But on my W221 S65 it is a little different.

After much searching, and a lot of looking, I found two screws in the overhead sunglasses compartment. They aren't really screws, just plastic fasteners. Turn them a quarter turn to the left and the rear of the entire unit will drop down and allow access to the light bulbs.

Be careful there are a lot of connections on that unit. The light fixtures unscrew from their holes with a turn to the left.

Hope this saves someone else some time and frustration.

All W221 have the same ceiling front dome light, the two plastic tabs are for fastening and securing the assy from squicking and yes they are located inside the sun glass console.

post picture after the change and let's see how the LED perform as against the original warm white bulbs.

Please explain how you went about doing it. It took me two days to figure out how to do the front dome lights.

Hopefully you can save me some time and energy.

I'm going to start with all white LEDs but may change the domes back if they are too bright. But I still haven't figured out how to get the rear dome or the side headliner lights out. I'm afraid to pry too hard.

Is there a special place to put the pressure?

The glove box and foot well lights looks much better with the brighter (white) leds.

No pics yet, but maybe when I'm done.

Tony, use a plastic wedge to pry through the long side of the back ceiling light as to avoid scratching the light assy.
