DYI S65 shiftpads
for thoose of you with the stock hidden shiftpads behind the steering wheel, it is possible to buy the shiftpads from the S65 AMG and make them fit your car..
part no for the pads are: A 171 267 00 46
they are REAL metal and quite heavy
i got a friend who works @ mb so i payed just under 200$ incl tax for them but they arent that expensive..
first remove your steering wheel.
there is 2 torx 25 holding the airbag in place
after that the steering it put in place with a big umbraco size 10
the new pads are more square than the old so you need to make the hole bigger, i used a dremel for this job...
once that was done, i used 2 screws i just had lying around to hold the pads in place since the old was way to small..
on the DOWN shiftpad, there is 2 wires, a blue and a black.. the black one is placed correctly, the blue have to be moved to center position
now reverse the process and you are done

fantastic way to cover the original plastic with treated polymer paint which becomes gummy after awhile. the metal part is the way to go. No more sticky finger.
