Changing the bulb in the rear vanity mirror light w221

If anyone knows how to get to the bulb please post. Be specific, as I've tried everything except ripping them out.

One way or another I'm going to get these LEDs installed but man it ain't been easy.

Please help!!!

You should be able to get it out by wedging a small flathead screwdriver on one side of the cover (there should be a small slot for it) and simply popping out the light.

Johnny

p.s. how are those rear dome lights coming in?

Johnny, thanks for the reply but that doesn't work. The lights on the doors are made the way you describe, but the fixture for the vanity mirrors isn't.

Take a look at yours and you will see what I mean. It looks like the entire fixture has to be pried out but I'm afraid I'll break something. Take a look you will see what I mean.

The rear dome and map lights are pried out from the side right under the roof handle. Be care it would be very easy to break. You can replace the map light but the dome light is a bullet bulb so nothing in the light kit will fit there.

W221 rear vanity lights

Tony I did figure it out but with surgeons hands . the outer plastic housing does pry loose but only Fron the front facing steering wheel. there are six plastic tabs that hold in place but you can't open the rear ones. only enough to from the front to get your new compression bulb in place. helps to remove the handle but not necessary takes patience and about 10 minutes per side. just take your time unfortunately an over engineered feature of the car.
