Problems with Sirius?

Bought a 2007 CL600.
Have had the telematics update.
Decided to activate Sirius today and after 2 hrs on the phone with them they tell me that my radio is not compatible with any of their current programming and wanted to sell me a stand alone radio with FM modulator. Any body else having this issue?

Assuming your vehicle came with Sirius (most likely it was standard on CL600), then it will most likely work only with the "SIRIUS Select" package set of programming. It most likely does not support their ala carte packages.

I have had this for my 2007 CL550 which was one of the first ones built. CL600 was not yet in production when I purchased my vehicle.

If you intend to keep your vehicle for several years, ask about the availability of a lifetime subscription.

FYI - the Lifetime subscriptions are gone - they don't offer that anymore.

I sent them a scathing response the usual customer survey about how they did on the contact with with me. We'll see what they can come up with.

I suspect they tried to sell me a larger package of 140 channels that is not compatible with our older radios but a smaller more standard package may work just fine.

Scathing responses don't have any effect on this outfit. Their customer "service" reps are trained to make up answers as they go along, with inconsistency and inaccuracy being the guiding format. I just went through a multiple call scenario to find out why my Navigation "traffic" had stopped functioning after 8 1/2 months. I received answers running from "you can't use Bluetooth when you have Sirius nav-traffic" to "the 8 month (sic) free trial has expired". The final result was that S-Classes have 2 ESN numbers from Sirius - one for the radio and one for the Nav-traffic. I finally got it straightened out but it was a difficult few days before I was told I needed an additional subscription for the same car. If a competitive service ever becomes available I would change satellite providers immediately.

Given the newer broadcast tecnologies it won't be long until Sirius has gone the way of Blockbuster,Kodak and floppy disks.
