2007 S550 with 5700 miles and problems!
Hello All,
I bought a 2007 S550 with only 5700 miles two days ago. I thought to myself this is a real creampuff, not even broken in! However there are already problems namely:
1. when I took delivery the remote keyless and trunk would not work unless the car is turned on. As a matter of fact nothing works when the car is turned off for a period of time. After I turn on the car the keyless works a few seconds then doesnt.
2. WHen I put it in reverse to try to parallel park, I got some "take workshop" message in red but when I switched it to drive it disappeared and not reappeared. Maybe I shifted too quick?
3. after I turn the car on the analog clock goes nuts and spins around llike theres some ghost.
4. The AC tends to blow soft then hard intermittently when driving.
The car itself is immaculate and drives like a dream however I am disappointed on these gremlins! now I called the dealer where it was originally bought and alwayas serviced and the only thing they told me is that the car has never had any recalls or problems but that it was "jumped" by the dealer twice over the past year and a half. I have read some threads on here and I have a suspected feeling both batteries may be bad.
Any words of advice or recommendations? I would hate to return such a gorgeous vehicle!!
thanks in advance.

From your symptoms, the most likely cause is a dead battery in the trunk. There is a battery under the hood that is used to start the engine. The rest of the electronics are powered by the trunk battery. Since the car has low mileage, it is likely that this battery is not being adequately charged. Have this battery tested and replace it if it won't hold a charge.
All of your symptoms should go away once the trunk battery is replaced or brought up to a full charge.
Also replace the batteries in your key fobs. This might also contribute to the failure of the key-less functions to work.

Except for the AC. it should town down the vent speed when coming to a stop in order to make it a more plesant and quiet while sitting at a stop light and then increases the speed of the fan when you start driving again. However, i dont think it should not be too dramatic. With stereo on you might not even notice unless yours is set at full blast, then you might tell the difference.

Sounds like it could be the accessory battery - it's easy to access by just angling and pulling out the carpeted false front door which is against the backseat in the trunk. Open the trunk and crawl in there and you'll see that the piece just sort of pulls out. The battery and all sorts of electronic goodies are in there. Hopefully a charge or more likely replacement will address your issues.
Otherwise it sounds, unfortunately, like you may have a swimmer. Let's hope not.
