do you want a smooth ride or otherwise? the m6 is faster, better handling, but transmission is rougher, more road noise, and ride is stiffer.

It must just be an M6 problem because my M5 has been problem free since day 1 in 2006.

The OP is making a pretty far reaching comparison. If this were my ONLY car, I'd probably stay with the S-Class. However, if I had an M6 convertible in addition to something else, then it's a no-brainer.

It probably comes down to every day driveability, and secondly to cargo/passenger capacity. If you can live with an M6 which requires you to drive it a certain way to be smooth (YES, it is possible to drive smoothly), then go with the M6 and you'll probably be happy (though I can't comment on the reliability discussion specifically). If, however, you need to haul people and their cargo on a regular basis, stay in the S-Class.

If, conversely, you only haul people and cargo rarely, just rent an SUV for that day. I'd love a car like the M6 Cab in S. Florida!

Haha - a lot of "if's" in this post! I can tell you from my own experience that having an M5 and an S550V4 is pretty much living my car dream in real life.

Good luck!

The best or nothing
M6 is good for one day but you wouldn't want to own it.
Why not SL?
