4 wheeled car.
While there is no definite proof, the fact the struts function at a compressed/lowered state than intended by design would lead one to believe that it reduces their life span.
On my E55 I had a strut go out while I had it on links. No clue if it was time to go or not, but it happened.
Best thing to do? Get a warranty and not worry, or keep it stock.

Would it cause excessive wear? Like, for example, if the struts were made to last 100k miles, would the lowered suspension last only 10k miles?
Here is an image of how low I went:

That's low but you should be good for years. They normally last a long time 100k or more miles. But you never know anything can happen sometimes peoples airmatic goes out with low miles and not even lowered. If it goes out most likely its not because it was lowered

I think it also depends on where you live. If you live in NYC where the road are really bumpy such as in Manhattan or in the FDR / Cross bronx express, you can probably attribute those bad roads to additional wear on your airmatics.
But if you live in a suburbs where roads are maintained well, you can slam your car and proabbly get away with it...
THat's my two cents...
