by pass of charcoal shut off valve

have anyone ever tried taking out the charcoal shut off valve located underneath the rear right wheel well and replace with just a straight rubber hose? Any effect if this is rectified? The charcoal valve has always been a headache for filling gas as well as the engine performance. Wondering if anyone has ever tried rectifying by taking that part off and substitute with just a plain hose
