2009 navigation system different from 2010+?
My father has a 2009 S350. During the last service we ask them to update the navigation. The guy tried in front of my father but failed to do so. He said it is because there is no update for the 2009 models and that the newer navigation software is only for 2010+. He said something along the lines of 2009 being HDD based while the 2010+ are DVD based.

Is this true?

Then why wouldn't it update? User error? I can take the navigation DVD from a 2012 model and update our 2009 model?

I'm going off what i know in the states. you just buy an dvd upgrade from navteq or whatever.

i don't know about UAE. here in the US, there are different dvd for the 07-09 s class, or 2010+. you use dvd to upgrade the nav, but there are different ones

In MY2010 and higher vehicles, a map upgrade requires VIN-specific activation.
