What type/size battery is used? Need resetting?
My '08 S500 has problem starting up possibly due to used up battery. A few days earlier when the vehicle was in the dealer for a scheduled service, the SA said the battery will soon need replacing as it doesn't hold enough charge. About four days later, starting is a hit and miss. So I guess the never-been-changed-before battery is due for a replacement.
So the dealer quotes around $400 for the replacement, which sounds pretty expensive.
My question is whether I can buy the replacement battery elsewhere with the same spec and install it without visiting the dealer's service center. BMWs generally need resettng of new installed batteries at the dealer, what about Mercedes?
Also what is the type/size of the OEM battery that I need to buy to replace with?
