Ventilated Seats....Very Weak!!! Normal?

Ok so I got our S350 about two weeks ago and since its been hot in the NE, I've been using the ventilated seats. Problem is that even on full power, I can barely feel any air on my back. Even sitting in a light t-shirt, it's almost not noticeable. I hear the fan turn on and very, very slightly feel something if I hold my hand over the seat, but I don't feel anything actually sitting in the seat.

Other cars that I've been in, you could really feel the air blowing on your back, but this one is borderline not noticeable.

Just trying to figure out of this is "normal" for M-B or there is something wrong and it needs to go to the shop?

Thanks!

Mine doe exactly the same and I was actually wondering that too, even with your hand on the seat backrest, the airflow is quite weak; same for the passengers-seat.

I hear the fan turn on immediately, so I tend to think that it's not broken, but it's just so weak it's borderline useless.

Good marketing sales tool to sell the car...they suck.......there actually is a person on this site that upgraded to more powerful bigger fans in the seat to improve effect......pretty useless accessory though.......

Massage seats also pretty lame on cars before 2010......

Bummer....it's too bad because on other brands, it was really nice to get some air moving on hot days.

I can feel it slightly on maximum setting...at least it is better than nothing.
The fan is also on the loud side...I once thought the noise was coming from the engine compartment.

On mine the airflow is not as strong as I first expected, but it does successfully make the seat feel cold after about 5 minutes or so.

I just bought my car in for service and mentioned it to them. When I get my car back I will update this thread with a answer from the dealer as to why the seats are so weak blowing cold air.

haha, my massage seat isn't so great.....just feels like some weakling
sticking it's knuckles in my back.........but I still use it which is even funnier...obviously deriving something from it

I've read some places that other car makers actually have cooled seats.....
guess ours are merely ventilated

I also thought something might be wrong with our 2012 S, our 2008 CLS seats blew much colder.

But these fans blow as cold air as is in the cabin.

W220 seats were even worse.
On 06 CLS and on my 07 S the fans are barely noticeable. But they do keep my back and but from sweating even after car has been in the 90+ degree weather for a day.
I have noticed that if I turn up the rear AC under the drivers seat it gets a bit cooler by sucking in the cooled air.

Depends on your configuration. My father's W220 had tray tables for the backseats and this took the place of where the intakes were for the ventilated seats so the AC was piped directly into the seats instead. Much more effective.

My suggestion would be to try running the AC in the back of the car cool when you want the ventilated seats nice and chilled. (I usually have the back on '0' unless someone is there)

I usually do setting 2 as not to hear the fans humming. After a little bit the leather does get cold as a whole but i dont really feel air blowing out the holes. Also it does just move air around so whatever is in the cabin that's what it will move.

Ok so my S.A. advised me the seat is working properly. He said it has to do with the temperature in the rear of the car also. He told me to leave all the rear vents open so when the air recirculates it will blow out cooler. I told him my dad has a cadillac cts 2 door and you can actually feel the air blowing thru the seats. H said it's a issue with most not all mercedes.

Figured as much. Have kids in the back so can't really chill them too much, so I guess it's just the way it is.

clean your leather seats and use a tooth pick to poke the holes and get reed of the dirt that might be in the way of the air holes of the chair, then check the fan underneath to make sure it is working, other wise it is not meant to be blowing a strong wind out of you rbehind, it is merely to keep the leather seat cool, and that seat fan function is only on you r A _ _ and not your back cause you don't want to catch pneumonia. Comprende?

haha, that would work, but my cars are not lux enough to have the controls in the rear seats too!
it's good enough I guess
