factory tints?

I havent really looked into this yet but I am going to put light tints on the side windows. Is there such a thing as factory "style" tints on the benz? I noticed some windows are not that smoke look but light mirror look and may want to go in that direction. Hope this makes sense. Bottom line looking for a light mirror look and not so light smokey ... ugh ... I need coffee this morning.

The S-Class models comes factory tinted on all the windows. Its labeled SUNGATE made by PPG where it reduces UV rays and absorbs heat that is entering the vehicle and keeps the cabin at lower temps which allows the climate control to work efficiently. Yea ur right it does give off that smokey/mirrored look when tints are applied. Your front and rear windshield gives off that purple look.

The Mercedes s class windows are the best in the business I love the look my 2007 silver s class had fishbowl windows(no tint) when I first got it now I have 5% tint on all doors I just recently purchased a 2011 black s class that I plan on tinting the windows because it has no tint I may not go so dark on this car but i am still thinking about it because I love a black vehicle with dark windows

There's something I have also noticed in W221s in regard to tints is that some W221s' windows look more greenish tint while other looks clear. I think it must be related to sun protection package or something like this

50%

I went with 50% on my 07. I swear, depending on how the planets align, it gives off the mirror, purpleish or much darker look.

My 2007 has the sun protection package but my 2011 doesn't I pulled up the data card on both vehicles via Vin number and my 07 has a lot of features that I wish were on my 2011

OPTION 595 HEAT INSULATING+IR REFLECTING.SAFETY GLASS SIDE+REAR

thicker glass with pink tinge from metallised coating all round, quieter and blocks the sun's IR making the interior 20 to 30F cooler when left sitting in the sun, on my L model I also have the rear with the black tint privacy on the rear doors and the rear window

the downside is phone and sat nav signals loose 2 bars - when she want to tell google where we r going she opens the side window and or pulls back the sunroof shade to get a signal lock

YES!! Well I don't think it impacts the car's system but it sure hurts the phone cell signal (significant dead spots compared to my other cars) and GPS signal. Some commutes with my phone mounted on the windshield have no GPS the entire drive. I am going to switch to a cupholder area mount clip and see if that helps a little. For my long FL trip early this year I actually had to buy an external BT GPS receiver and mount it in the front/center of the dash using that non-IR reflecting square. It worked but what a mess of wires and extra phone fiddling/apps to make it all work. Right now this is my #1 complaint with the car actually.

yep - the car's own nav has no issues, and a phone system of an age that uses the cars external GSM antenna has no issues

but a mobile in the hand works badly - there should be a cut out at the top beside the interior mirror for small e-toll readers to see the world - and as you spotted a 8 x 6 " cut out at the bottom centre of the front screen (which is for the retro fit GPS antenna, when adding Mercs Comand Nav to poverty spec cars) - note some idiot non OEM screens forget the gaps in the IR - don't you PILKINGTON !!!
