Should I be upset...
I recently purchased a used 2011 S class 4 Matic. The dealer emailed me the spec sheet which stated the car came with SPLITVIEW option code 867. It wasn't a factor when I purchased the car as I understand it may not be legal in my state. Nonetheless as soon as I got the car home I noticed there was no remote and earphones. The owners manual quite clearly suggests there should be. When I emailed the dealership they initially told me I wasn't supposed to have the remote and earphones but when I referred them to the correct page in the owners manual they agreed the car should have come with both.
I went to the trouble of obtaining a "Vehicle Master Inquiry" and sure enough the SPLITVIEW option is once again listed. To make matters even more confusing the buttons that swivel the display which are supposed to be directly above the dimer switches next to the display are not present. WTF?
Is it possible the SPLITVIEW option was removed in it's entirety and exchanged for a non-SPLITVIEW display? Or, is it more likely the option was simply not built into the car?
The price of the option is only $710, less than 1% of the total new car sticker. If the car hadn't come with another option on the spec sheet e.g. 321 Sport Package or the P02 package I know I'd be upset. Can it be retrofitted? Should I ask for a credit? Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Washington was added to states that allow SPLITVIEW 7/22/11. As previously mentioned swivel display is not available with SPLITVIEW as stated in the manual and you are entitled to remote and headphones at no cost.

Thanks one and all. If I understand correctly no buttons so you cannot swivel the display but I should have a remote and earphones. It looks as if I'll have to visit the dealership and have them activate the SPLITVIEW as it's currently not activated. The car was first sold in mid May 2011 so that probably explains why it wasn't activated. I'll have to renew my battle with the selling dealer to get a remote and headphones.
Thanks again!
