No need to fret folks...the campaign (not recall) will cover every m272 & m273 engine built. Each engine requires 4 wiring pig tails and there's no way the dealer, parts distribution network & supplier can handle that many vehicle's at once. The solution is to release the campain to a group of vin #'s at a time over a few months.

I checked mine. Pulled out one by one and one of them has oil inside the socket
There is no leak out to the outside socket and no check engine code yet. Will check with dealer for recall or I'll replace it myself.

2007 S550V4 2001 S430 (Sold) 1976 450 SL
The SA @ my Wisconson dlrshp. emailed back to my query, precipitated by board discussion, that my S-550, a 2007, with production # 117,123 is not effected by this recall. Leap of faith, but I am not pursuing. Is there a production # where it is applicable?

Called my local deal (Atlanta) and they confirmed there is recall for my VIN. This is a pity 'cos I just changed 3 camshafts myself about 2 weeks ago - will be replacing all 4 again at the dealer next week.
$75.00 + time wasted!!

Checked with my dealer and there is a recall to my car. My VIN is *103159 and covered by the recall . SA told me that MB is still sending out recall mail to owners.

Good day Gents. Could you answer my question. Looks like I have a problem with camshaft solenoids I have read "M272 timing error" file and seems to be in "Scenario 2" (SD gives fault codes 0060 and 0064). My question is, is it dangerous for the engine when solenoids are faulty? Thanks for reply.

Instead of replacing 4 solenoids, they just added an extension cord
(with better rubber seal on the connector) each and plug the oil leaking from solenoid. In 30min, my car was ready.
I'll replace solenoids myself.

hello everyone, I have the same problem with my 2003 c230 k, after having dealership replaced the solenoid harness, i replaced the solenoid but noticed that there's no seal between these 2 surfaces where the solenoid seats against the cam front cover, allowing oil to leak thru there. Does any one knows if this is an engineering flaw from MB? i asked SA guys and they said there's no seal in between. have any one here have this stubborn oil leak after all this work has been done? i forgot to say that i also replaced the middle oil plug in the new solenoid...any ideas how to re-invent their design????

I check in for oil change today on my 07 s550 out of warranty :-)
My service advisor informs me about the open campaign for our w221.
They replaced cam sensor/wires at no charge. Also, SDS lowering is done too :-)
