Wink need advice on extended warranty

i bought a used s600 07. it now has 51k miles and no warranty.. the dealership offered me a warranty with fidelity 4 year 48,000 miles for 11k that covers everything on the car but tires..sounds good to me..seeing that i like racing it "legally" ;-) and i was spending about 3k a year on my viper and this this 600 is surely more to fix.. this my first benz so any input would be greatly appreciated ..

He told me if the warranty hadnt already expired it would have been cheaper..and the 600s are way more expensive ..its 60k$ more than a standard 550..so i dunno..i just know that repairs r pretty pricey..but the cars are really well built.. but i think its worth it.. average maintenance on the cars are about 3k a year..if nothing big brakes..and i like street racing..soo.. but anyone got any more advice plz comment

Really!! You are old enough and wise enough to purportedly buy an S600 and want to know about buying an $11,000 extended warranty so you can feel better about street racing it?

Most automotive extended warranties are guaranteed to pay everything but claims. If they are still in business when you need them. You need to make sure their idea of "bumper to bumper" and yours correspond.

I'd get another quote from another dealer if possible. $11k is very high in my opinion, even for the V12 motor. To compare my MB dealer gave me a warranty through National for 4 years 50k miles for under $5k on my out of warranty R63.

First off, make sure, and absolutely sure that the warranty company actually has a reputation for covering V12 claims.

Secondly, make sure it's an exclusionary policy. To be honest, I've never heard of "bumper to bumper" extended warranties. Even the MB CPO warranty is exclusionary to a degree.

All of this advice is aimed at a daily driver V12 car. That said, you mentioned you plan on racing it. Drag, street, whatever it is that you do, it will put significant wear on the car. Not saying the 600 can't stand up to repeated abuse, but just be ready to service and maintain it accordingly.

I would look into an Easy Care Total Care warranty. People seem to be pretty happy with that policy. I forget if they cover the 12 cylinder cars or not, but look for a similar thread in the AMG S63 S65 forum. A member there advises on and sells warranties (owner of Beck Imports I believe). Good luck!

I too have an 07 S600, and let me tell you good thing to have extended warranty. I bough a Major Guard policy from Jeff Hunter at Grey Chev. phone number is 517-265-7156. They had the best price of all by a mile. Have used Major Guard with S600 at local M/B dealer and they paid all on time. They are very pleased. It was two years ago and I don't know if Jeff still works there but it is worth you time. Try it.

Good luck with the car.
