Well, I traded in my 2008 c350 with 50k miles on a 2007 s550 with 36k miles yesterday :
So far, I am very pleased with the car. I also bought a 3 yr / 36k mile bumper to bumper warranty. I do have a couple of quesions :
- Car currently has summer tires on the 19" rims which is not going to do me much good up here in Chicago in a couple of months. Any suggestions for some good all season 19" tires ?
- Looks like I need to buy a puck to get my iPhone bluetooth to work - any suggestions on where to pick one of these up other than ebay ? Anything I need to be aware of ?
Thanks in advance ! I hope to be a valuable contributor to this part of the forum in the future...

About the bluetooth, it'll be hard to find one of these outside of ebay. You can try craigslist but i'm sure it's rare. Many people buy them from ebay..i got two and they are fine. Plus the price is always right on ebay. or just go the dealership and pay full price..
Good luck

Don't get all seasons tires (they equal "no seasons".)
Invest in 4 snows and rims. Even 18" will do. You need the traction for steering in the snow. Plus when the temperature hits 45 degrees and less, the rubber loses its traction even on dry roads. Hence winter tires are more than just "snow tires".
Having a second set on rims makes change overs twice a year quite easy.

Congrats on the new ride. In regards to the "puck", I would take a look at the classified post on this forum (https://mbworld.org/forums/mobile-el...-lighting-102/), I saw quite a few postings selling them. For the Winter, I run Bridgestone Potenza RE970AS Pole Position XL all-season 255/40R-19 (front) and 275/40R-19 (rear).
Good luck on the new ride.

jadeethan,
Thanks - I ended up buying one on ebay for $160 - should be here sometime this week.
carsnob,
I agree with you 100%, I know a seperate set of wheels and winter tires would be better, but since I have gotten by the last 3 years in the C with all seasons I think I will be fine with the S ( wife has a Jeep Grand Cherokee if it gets really bad ).
TDwayne,
Thanks - I am looking at the Bridgestone Potenza RE970AS Pole Positions as well ( highly rated on TireRack )
One of my big concerns was gas, but it may not be as bad as I thought. Computer showed 19.7 on my way to work this morning, compared to 22.5 in the c350 - I can live with that if it's somewhat accurate ( I will compute the first couple of tanks by hand )
I figure worst case scenario $50 extra a month in gas. Insurance went up $30 a month as well ( all comp and coll )
Question : is there any way to show a digital clock somewhere ? I like the analog in the dash, and I downloaded the owners manual this morning, but it doesn't look like you can show the time on the instrument cluster or the nav...
Thanks for the warm welcome everyone !

Nice ride nick, congrads.
If you want to stay with single set and use all season tires, many people swear by continental extreme DWS. Check it out, has good reviews on tire rack.
If you don't find bluetooth in classifieds on this site, contact eBay seller by name cellguy. I,ve bought stuff from him for every Benz I've owned.
Edit, just saw your Bluetooth message, decent price.
Gas mileage is not the best on this car. You can get decent miles if rolling, traffic eats up gas fast, 8 cylinders firing for no reason
Ecu tune helped me with gas mileage a little bit. Not too much in traffic though but on highway I can get over 28 easy.

malahhaor,
I have also heard good things about the DWS - unfortunatelty they are not available in the size I need.
Computer showed 21 mpg this morning - I was pleasantly suprised !
Thanks,
Nick

So you're not sitting in traffic, that's good.
I'd suggest to look in to an ECU tune + air filters. Check with eurocharged or speeddriven in palatine on that. You will see a slightly better mileage if you drive sensibly and a little more kick when stomping on the pedal.
Again, congrads and enjoy. G-D speed.

So far I am very happy with this car. The bluetooth works great and downloaded all my contacts from my iphone without a hitch ( part # B6 787 5878 ).
My only complaints are that there isn't a digitial clock anywhere ( petty ) and the passanger headrest squeaks ( which I will address this weekend ). I am getting 19-20 mpg back and forth from work compared to the 22 mpg I used to get in my C class which I think is excellent.
Bridgestone tires are on order as well...
Thanks all,
Nick

obviously dedicated snows would be better, but what a hassle
