Smile W221 S320 CDi Long Airmatic Malfunction

Hi all, any help would be greatly appreciated. I am running a 2006 S320 CDi long, which I must say is a fantastic car. The other day I noticed that as I went over certain bumps with the n/s I'm getting a thudding noise around the passenger seat area/centre of car, that sounds like an exhaust knock but I have been told that the exhaust is properly secured with no movement and they cannot replicate the noise in workshop conditions. Now today I have had the AIRMATIC Malfunction message come on but surprisingly everything feels sounds and looks fine. I must add that when I switch the car off and restart it the warning is not illuminated and there are no warning messages, then after about a mile or two the message comes back but again clears on restart. I'm not insinuating that the two faults are associated but any feed back would be greatly appreciated.

You have to read fault codes. Codes may point to the shock absorbers (control valves) or the air lines or something else and your actions would be very different for those different codes.
