Sensor on my S550
It seems when i get close to something that is 3 or 4 feet high while parking etc, my front sensor goes off- however it doesnt go off when my wheel is low to the curb? is this normal? thoughts- comments -

If you do NOT have the radar cruise control, the sensors are in the round circular plugs on your front bumper. They are aimed forward and probably only detect items at about their height. They do NOT detect items 6 inches above the ground. I believe the radar unit also does not look down.
Vehicles with radar do detect items on the side of the vehicle, but not those extremely close to the ground.
One thing that you can do to help is to enable your passenger side mirror to automatically tilt down when you are in reverse. This will allow you to see the curb while you are backing into a parallel parking spot. See your owner's manual for instructions on how to enable this feature.
