rearview camera - optical cable?
Hi guys,
The rearview camera doesn't work anymore : not only is it showing a black screen, but when you put the car back in D, it won't go back to the standard radio menu (you have to manually make it go back by pressing the return button).
Benz dealership said it might be the reverse cam optical cable (which is around 1000$) and there is no certainty that after changing it, it would actually solve the problem.
Has anybody had the same issue?

Optical cable? The camera is connected with a coax cable.
Which MY car is it? The rear view camera control unit that draws dynamic lines could cost $1000 to replace but the 2008 onwards (around 2008) models do not have this control unit any more.

The MY is 2006.
Thought so too it was a coaxial cable...
Thinking on finding a solution though.

Perhaps the workshop has diagnosed the camera control unit being faulty then. If it really is faulty, you might prefer to go the later MY way without the control unit. It should be possible to code COMAND to operate without the box and with fixed lines.

I have the exact symptoms above, so would like Part Number for 2007 s550 rear view camera coaxial cable....can someone help me out? When I search on mb part sources, I see several cables labeled as "cable harness" in my searches, but not sure which one is specific to the rearview camera video feed?
