S550 vs 750i
Just want to know your guy's opinions on the S550 vs 750i. I just purchased a 2010 750i with the sport package and I love the twin turbo power.

I drove a 7 Series once, it rode like dream but looked like crap , bangle butt version lol
Being a W221 lover , I think there is no rocket science anticipating what I would choose lol

I just happened to come back from MFest tonight. Lightly modded with just rims I can tell you that my S550 turns more heads than the 750il next to me.

The one thing that got me sold on the 750i was the power it produces. More than the S550 and to be competing with the 750i I would need to bump up to a S63. The one thing I hate on the new 221s is the tail lights. SO FREAKIN UGLY IMO.. The 04-06 220 4 Strip lights were HOT! The S 221 just looks BLOATED to me with those hideous things they call "fender flairs".

For the price I paid for this beauty I can't complain. I never really considered the B7, guess I fell in love with this one. Plus I don't have deep pockets like some. I'm only "medium pimpin" right now. My brother had a CL65 AMG but I never drove it so I wouldn't know what V12TT power feels like. What about comparing this to the LS460?

Here's what I came up with.
Reasons for the LS460:
1. if you want a pretty good CPO warranty 7 years 100k (or something like that)
2. Get mistaken for a Camry or any other other Toyota at a quick glance (they all seem to share the same body style just stretched a little IMO)
3. Smooth quiet ride and boring.
4. Prefer touch screen navigation and almost everything else (which I prefer over the Idrive that the MB copied from the BMW)
Reasons why I got the S550:
1. Looks better in every aspect
2. I can feel the road much better too smooth tends to be boring
3. Air suspension so I can drop the car with very little effort
4. The S550 truly look like a 6 figure car
5. Definitely has more power

You did good on the 7 , can't go wrong with the 7 or S class. But when you started this thead on the mb board you know you're going to get tilted replies. Like I stated before enjoy the pimpin ride.
I use the s class as the family cruiser, have 3 car seats in the rear so now looking for a 3rd row, hope to keep the s or trade it in for the GL (made in USA). :0

For me, BMW drives extremely well. I would need an AMG to get same drive from a benz. my wife used to have a 3 series and even with a small engine it was fun to drive. but i can not stand the dashboard and entertainment/nav electronics. I also like how in the benz you dont feel every single bump in the road. (i guess you would in AMG)
i also like the look of S class over 7 series. last good looking 7 was in 2001

The US S-Class is the long wheel base version. The 750i is a short wheelbase version. The S will have much nicer rear seat accomodations.

I am 6ft 5inches with very long legs, the S550 is built for guys with long legs, everything about the S550 is comfort. Believe it or not, I cant fit into the 750i properly as i cant get my legs to a comfortable position

I had 4 choices to go with, a S400, S550, a 750i and 750Li.
I purchased the S550 by the way...
But had seriously considered the 750i and the 750Li for more leg room for rear passengers. I loved the twin-turbo v8, didn't like the "cramp" driver area. Felt constricting, I had no elbow room to move around. I also didn't like the Sport package 20" tires were Only run-flats and a nail in one of those tires means a new tire every time. Not often does a nail puncture, but if it does it's at least $400-500 per tire to replace. Also liked the HUD, very quiet interior and the integral steering package.
I chose the S due to its overall appearance, a cleaner interior, felt more classy, love the massaging seats and pano roof. I'm missing a few other options but i am content with what I drive now. And the wife liked it more over the 7.
Whether an S or a 7 . . It is a good choice. To each their own, if it makes you happy, it is the right choice.

In my case the wife also preferred the S over the 7. I think the BMW dash outlay was one of the factors on her end. So we compromised on the S550 as the family hauler. Enjoying the ride for now until we swap out for a 3rd row!!

Congrats on your car she looks great! I actually came out of an 07 BMW 750li sport and I loved it. I was going to upgrade to the f01/02 but I wasn't sold on the interior and felt like the new 5 series actually looked better so chose the Benz. I guess it's just a matter of taste you can't go wrong with either one.

I love the new 7 Series but I love the S Class more. BMW to me the cars all tend to look too much alike. Same with Audi I find. Not a bad thing as they are all beautiful.

I looked at and test drove b7 and 760 and I found myself buying the s63.... The s class is a great ride and beautiful car and something about its presence/curb appeal when it pulls up
