Fair Price for 2012 S350 Bluetec Dealer Demo?

I am tempted to purchase a 2012 S350 Bluetec Dealer Demo. The car has 4,200 miles on it, and it has never been titled. I owned a 2000 E320 4Matic a long time ago, but this would be my first S-Class, and my first Diesel. Concerns are that the new model is about to debut, and that I have never owned a Diesel before - but always wanted one.

Any input re. a fair price and thoughts would be greatly appreciated!

I stopped by the dealer, and his "best" offer for the 2012 Demo was for $81,500 plus $400 in various fees. This does not incude any sales taxes. I spoke with a different dealer, and I am now looking at a new 2013 S350 for close to the same price. That car includes about $8,500 in options (most expensive one being the Sport package with the 19" wheels).

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

The 2012 is nothing more than a low mileage used car regardless of whether it was a "demo" or not. It is a seventy to seventy-five thousand dollar car and they can be found for that price around the country. The first question to ask is when the warranty start date is and has there ever been any damage.

The 2013 should carry a twenty to twenty-five thousand dollar discount from MSRP.

Thank you for the feedback! The 2012 Model would lose about six months of its warranty. I plan on going for a new 2013 this week, and the deal I am looking at would price it 22K below MSRP. It is exactly what I want, and I hope everything will work out smoothly.

Thanks again for the help!

WOW! Is this normal for dealerships to offer that much of a discount on new S-classes or does this have anything to do with the new model debut? I always thought their mark-up was roughly 6% percent on MSRP.....

The percentage of available gross is more like 11-12% including the hold-back. There are large dealer incentives on the 2013 at the present time in preparation for the new 2014.

I am flying to Dallas,Tx this week to pick up a 2012 S350 in Diamond White Metallic/Cashmere Savanna interior. Car has PO2 package, P867 Splitview,068 wheel locking bolts,19" 5 spoke wheels, burl walnut wood trim, and sticker price originally was $100,295 incl. $875 destination. The car has 22k miles on it and was a Mercedes Financial lease originally from MB dealer in Laguna Miguel,Ca. The VIN checks out with score of 94 from Auto Check and coincides with Carcax report. Local MB dealer pulled up VIN# for me to check maintenance history and it looks in order. Price is $62,995 and I have a deposit on it so it doesn't get away. Texas Cars Direct.com has a few others in same year model for decent prices but no more in this color. It is difficult to find good preowned white Mercedes especially a 2012 BlueTec S350. Wish me luck as I will be driving over 1000 miles to get it home. Good luck on finding your dream car as Cars.com has excellent reviews about texascarsdirect.com
