This sounds expensive!

My 2008 S600 has recently been exhibiting an irritating jerk in the transmission when changing from 1st to 2nd gear. It is like a shudder that runs through the whole car no matter how delicately I put my foot on the gas when changing gears starting out from rest. It all started when the transmission fluid was changed and I thought it was the gearbox itself. However the SA tells me now that it is not the gearbox but the torque converter locking up, and it needs to be replaced. Apparently they have to take the transmission out and replace it with a new part on order. Sounds expensive! Is this a known issue with the V12 and 5-speed?

Luckily I still have a year or so to run on my extended 7-year 100,000 mile warranty. (I am still only at 54,000 miles) Looks like it may have paid for itself.

Currently in a loaner C-Class but its quite OK!

I went for an extra 5yr/50,000 mile extended warranty on my 2012 S350 BlueTec which now hs 23,500 miles on factory warranty which expires in 24,500 miles or 4-14-16. The cost at purchase on car with 22,174 miles was $3,155.00 which was $300.00 less than usual due to a coupon as I was told. The warranty is with GWC. I would appreciate feedback from members who are experienced with this warranty company. I am leaary of high cost of repairs associated with a 4Matic S class after factory warranty is over. Thanks for your input and recommendations.
