Considering a 2010 S400 Hybrid...thoughts?

Hi,
I'm looking at getting a 2010 CPO S-Class for my wife. I've been looking for a few weeks now and found a few S400 Hybrids that she likes but I'd like to get some feedback/opinions from those of you who have them. I originally was focused on the S550 but now considering the S400 as an option.

We've test driven one and while not a speedster, the acceleration is fine for my wife. So, other than drive-ability, what has been the experience with those on this forum who own the S400 Hybrid with reliability? I understand the battery can be an expensive replacement but hope that with the advancements by now in hybrid technology that that will be a non-issue but wanting hear about experiences.

Thanks.

had it for about 2yrs now. no real problems. power is more than adequate. had issue with battery dying. took it to the dealer and they had to ship it to another dealer because no one here can fix a hybrid. they replaced the one of the battery (not the main one) and everything is all good now. the gas mileage is not that impressive but much better than the V12 it replaced. if the price is not much different, i would recommend getting a s550 instead. might be easier to fix and sell later.

Thanks and you make some good points on ease of repair and resale. Glad to hear that yours has been relatively trouble free.

Price differences for those we've found in Diamond White have been pretty close so have been leaning more towards the S550 but wanted perspective from owners of S400 Hybrids.

general public also believe that 550 is better/more expensive than 400
i get the same sympathetic tone talking about my s400 as when i was in the C220 (you know, like why buy a mercedes/S class when you can't afford a real mercedes/ s class)

That's interesting as here most people are surprised when I mention the hybrid is the same or lower price (used) as the S550. Hybrid in most of their minds usually means you are paying a premium.

2013 S550 4matic (AMG sport package), 2016 Corvette Stingray.
I would just go with the S550 personally, there's not enough MPG saving with this car imo to sacrifice the engine of the S550 for the hybrid.
