W221 2006 s500 - what is the pop out slot for under the cd stacker - player
Hello, I'm picking up a 2006 s500 lwb tomorrow with harmon karden sound system, when I opened the slot on the dash to reveal the cd input and buttons from 1 - 6, immediately below there is also another input / slot with a pop out button next to it, it's about the size of a cassette slot, and looks like some kind of cartridge slides in and out ? But there is no cartridge supplied ! If anyone can let me know what it is an if you can buy a replacement cartridge easily ? Cheers ash

You should find some information from the user manual. Anyway this is the PCMCIA slot which you can use for a memory card. You can play MP3 music from the memory card.
Almost any type of memory card works because there are different PCMCIA adapters accordingly. A Compact Flash card would be quite safe but SD-HC cards are more popular these days. Just be sure you have an SD HC capable adapter for those cards, some adapters only support SD cards.
