Started two days ago, went to the movies came back out, car wouldn't turn over after pushing one time, then pushed it three times it came back on. Thought it was a fluke. Yesterday came to garage to go to work, car wouldn't start until after 10 minutes of pushing, then it finally turned came on, as if there was no gas to turn it over. This morning the same thing, then all of the sudden it came on after 10-15 minutes of pushing button. Again it is as if there is no gas to turn it over, no battery isssue but seems I'm draining the startup battery trying to start it up. What is this. Seems when the car is hot, it will turn back on, no problem but when its cold, it wont start. Help! its Xmas! this can't be happening!

Had almost identical issue last year. The car started taking more cranks to start. Sometimes it would die right after it started. Came to a point when it would crank over endlessly and not start at all.
In the end, tech found my fuel pump disintegrated and pieces of it were at the bottom of the gas tank. After new pump and fuel filter everything running like a champ.

Thanks guys...sounds like that could be the issue. But when hot, and daily stop and go driving, I have no problem, its when the car sits overnight and the morning crank up. Thats when i seems to need to build up pressure to start. Some guys on Benzworld mentioned the crank position sensor also #70. Thanks for all the help, now I know what I looking at. By the way, how much did the fuel pump run you? thanks.

uhhh...more problem now. I hit the button a couple times, then after several tries, I hit the button, let i prime and it almost started, then tried it again, now nothing, its wont even turnover or even try to crank. I think I burned out the starter? I smell a burning smell. I checked the starter battery, its has spark but i think I tried to start so much it burnt something now it wont do anything......f#$#%K! What did I do???

Assuming starter battery is fine, check prefuse, revisit relay (rear SAM S https://mbworld.org/forums/5878189-post13.html) check starter relay terminals and so on.
