Burned rubber smell coming from car. Need help
Just recently started smelling a burned rubber smell coming from my 2008 S550. I have popped the hood and looked around and can't find where this is coming from. Anyone experienced this before? Appreciate anyone's help

Have you recently had any service done or did any work on the car yourself? I ask because sometimes when work is being performed things get moved out of the way and not secured back properly after the work is done(vacuum hoses, etc.)

I have not done any work to the vehicle. MB dealer only touches it and they haven't recently touched the car either. I always seem to smell the burned rubber after I turn the car off in the garage. Will come back a few minutes later and the whole garage smells like it. I have checked the belt and the looked to see if any of the pulleys are bound up and it all looks good.

The last thing I know of to check, before the Pros respond, is the exhaust. I would check under the vehicle starting in the front and working your way back for something that may be burning off the exhaust system. Maybe a bag or something. Hope it's nothing major....

So I jacked the car up and have inspected the exhaust to see if I could find anything stuck to it (like a plastic bag) and found nothing. Can anyone think of what the problem could be? I really don't want to take this to my MB dealer

I notice that sometimes when I pull into my garage, I get a very strong "tire rubber" smell. Not always. But it does resemble the smell of burnt rubber.
