2010 S-550
2010 S-550 reliability

Considering upgrading to a 2010 or 2011 S-550 from a 2006 S-350.
But concerned about the airmatic suspension, since I have had to replace
both front shocks, 46K and 52K miles respectively; airmatic air compressor and valve block at 58K and latest rear left shock at 59K miles.

Any owner have experience with airmatic suspension reliability on the newer S class with over 40K miles?

Thanks for any inputs on airmatic suspension or other reliability problems.

I owned two prior W220s, an 94 S430 and an 06 S500. Both suffered expensive AIrmatic pump failures. My 2010 is at 53k miles and no issues at all. (Valve block is an ABC problem, right? Never had a car with ABC)

I'm hoping MB engineered the bugs out for the 221 but I haven't had mine long enough. I'd still recommend a CPO car to you.

Smile 2010 S-550

Purchased a 2010 S-550, CPO with two extra years of warranty in April 2014.
Reliability to date has been far better then the 2006 S-350.
Only problems have been left front airmatic shock leaking air; Attention Assist Inoperative message repaired by replacing the steering column; sun shade on left rear passenger window inoperative, motor replaced. All repaired/replaced under warranty.
Had to replace the Auxiliary Battery at my expense, ($150 installed).

Thinking about changing to a 2014 or 2015 S-550 when warranty is about to expire?

But from posts on W 222 problems and quirks having second thoughts!

Have 1.75 years to verify future 2010 vs 2014/2015 reliability and features
on w 222 vs w 221.

Ditto. My 2010 has 76k now and got a starter replaced in the interim but still no Airmatic issues or anything major. I'll still trade out before this time next year when the warranty ends, mostly because I like trading out every few years.
