IPod Hack: Custom MB Lock Screen
Here's a little hack I did on my S's dedicated 5th Gen IPod Touch, which I use pretty much as my exclusive media player in the car. It's connected to an array of signal processing gear in the glove box and accessed via Aux In. Not very sexy in terms of COMAND integration but more than makes up for it in audio quality.
The hack involved first jail-breaking the IPod, and then using several 3rd party apps that allowed me to strip away all of the normal elements on the lock screen (clock, date, swipe to unlock, the entire top status bar, etc.) It's also tweaked to allow the lock screen to stay lit longer than the standard twenty seconds.
The effect is pretty cool, especially at night.
Here's the lockscreen image (wall paper). I wanted to duplicate the feel of the COMAND at boot up, and all of the cool little logos on the Audio Disc screen.
I had to identify and download the Mercedes font (Corporate A) and the rest was just cribbed from Google image searches.

Ha! First I need to get you to do the Aux In EQ mod so someone besides me can know first hand how unbelievably beautiful the stock HK stereo can sound. I just put the same gear (Clarion EQ and Istreamer DAC) in my son's Audi A5 that already has a really nice Bang & Olufsen factory system and it actually sounds a little better in the Benz.

Hi Mike. I have an Ipod Classic 5G connected via ipod integration cable to HK music system in a MB GL 320 CDI. It works great, but I can only see the song info in the dashboard and not in the radio's screen. I cannot arrange or search by genre or artist. The command system only shuffles and arranges songs in a way I can't search for the music I want to hear. Do you have any suggestions.
Thanks and best regards.
