Homelink garage door opener

I just got my second S class. It is a 2007 S550 with 38K miles on it. All is well but the only the left button of the 3 programmable garage door buttons works. The other 2 don't light up at all when trying to program them... I took it to MB for a new starter battery, oil change, transmission service, and brake flush. They briefly looked at it and said they didn't know what the problem was... Anybody got any ideas???

Thanks, Don

These things are tricky to program.

Go to www.homelink.com and get their latest instructions. If it doesn't work, call their tech support because they are really helpful.

I believe the instructions for programming in the MB owners manual are outdated. Use the Homelink ones.

There is a way to erase all Homelink programming back to factory defaults. On my 2001 and 2003 MB cars it was to hold the 1st and 3rd buttons (two outer buttons) in for 30 seconds and wait for it to flash differently (faster flashing if I recall correctly).

That wipes all previous codes stored by previous owners of your car... also erases any programming attempts you have made.

Try erasing then re-programming.

I tried do re-program. It still does not light up the buttons when the second and third ones are pushed. The left button programs fine. I need more help...

If you did a full reset (buttons 1 and 3) and still can't program the 2nd and 3rd buttons, I think you need to get a new unit.

Something is wrong with either the buttons or the circuit board if you can't program those additional buttons.

Pick up a used mirror on eBay.. they're relatively easy to swap.
