12v Power supply in Overhead Console
Can anyone tell me which wire is a 12V power supply in the Overhead console in my S350?
I am trying to hardwire a Passport Radar detector and it is much easier to tap into a supply around the mirror that go all the way to the fuse box.
Next question - anyone have instructions on removing overhead console to get to the wire?
Thanks in advance.

Would the radar detector need switched power? Most likely there is no switched power wire at the overhead console.
If you are going to work a lot with the car, you should subscribe to Startekinfo for WIS documents that explain the wiring and gives you instructions to remove parts. If it is only this task, perhaps someone is willing to print the documents for you.

Much easier to use the fuse box on the end of the dash on the passenger side. Pry that end panel off and tap a fuse for power and use any of the mounting bolts for ground. It's easy to hide the wire up the A pillar (under the cloth trim) and across the front of the headliner to wherever you want your detector.
You want switched power so a voltmeter will save some trial and error. Here's a post with pics:

I've seen those cluster installs. That's the first-class way to do it, avoid displaying the detector and avoid the signal loss through the windshield.

I can confirm that the first post above (tapping SOS wiring) does NOT work. It is only switched power with the lights on as someone else mentioned. I have a feeling the original poster probably figured that out after the fact.
